It occurs when there is damage to either the hair cells in the inner ear or to the auditory nerve. There is no medical treatment that can regenerate the affected cells, so this type of hearing loss is permanent.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4>These are the main causes of sensorineural hearing loss:<\/h4>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>The effects of aging;<\/li>\n<li>Exposure to very loud noises;<\/li>\n<li>Genetics;<\/li>\n<li>M\u00e9ni\u00e8re&#8217;s disease;<\/li>\n<li>Taking ototoxic medications;<\/li>\n<li>Head trauma;<\/li>\n<li>Diabetes;<\/li>\n<li>Auto-immune and infectious diseases;<\/li>\n<li>Vestibular schwannoma<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><strong>Conductive hearing loss<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This type of hearing loss is associated with an obstruction in the outer or the middle ear, affecting the transmission of sound to the inner ear. Medical treatment or interventions can generally re-establish sound propagation.
