Technology to Meet your Needs

Unprecedented breakthroughs have been made in the field of hearing aids in the past 10 years, particularly in technology. Among the major improvements made are those concerning the sound quality and performance of hearing aids in noisy situations. Here is a summary of the main technologies available from most hearing aid manufacturers.

Hearing aids technology

Noise reducers
This technology reduces discomfort from ambient sounds without affecting your ability to understand.

Directional microphones (automatic or not)

These microphones filter out sounds from the side or behind the user so that he or she can better understand the person speaking in front of him or her. Some models feature directional microphones that can automatically move from one speaker to another in a 360° circle (in front, behind, beside).

Frequency compression
This development makes it possible to hear high sounds like birdsong, children’s voices or the doorbell.

Anti-feedback (anti-whistling)
This feature eliminates whistling, which makes wearing hearing aids more enjoyable.

Suppression of reverberation
This addition reduces the echo effect present in some environments like reception halls and places of worship.

Water resistant
Some hearing aids are designed to provide superior water resistance. However, it is never recommended to wear your hearing aids while taking a shower or when swimming underwater. Water resistance is mainly to protect the aids from splashing water like rain or perspiration.

Hearing aid synchronization
When a sound is detected by one hearing aid, from a telephone for example, the signal is automatically sent to the other ear, greatly improving the sound quality of your hearing.

Relieving tinnitus
Certain instruments were specially designed for people suffering from tinnitus. These devices can help relax and reduce the effects of tinnitus, making it less bothersome.

Sound quality
Music lovers have not been left out! There are several highly developed systems that provide a pleasing listening experience. In all cases, an assessment by an audioprosthetist is strongly recommended, to determine which technologies fit your needs best.
