When to get a hearing test?

When to get a hearing test ?

There’s no right age to get your hearing tested, because hearing loss can affect quality of life at any time.

Hearing loss has many consequences, but it mainly impacts your ability to communicate with those around you, at home and at work. As of age 65, one in three people experience some loss of hearing; and as of age 75, that rises to one in two.

It’s important to be attentive to any difficulties you might be experiencing. Here are some signs to watch for:

  • People around you seem to mumble a lot.
  • You often ask people to repeat
  • You don’t answer or answer incorrectly when asked a question.
  • You always turn the TV volume up as high as possible.
  • You have trouble understanding phone conversations.
  • You feel like you no longer hear like you used to.

We recommend consulting an audiologist for a complete hearing test:

  • At birth
  • Before a child starts school
  • At any age when a child shows signs of a language delay or is having trouble at school.
  • As soon as you or your loved ones feel it’s necessary
  • At age 50, and then every 3 years thereafter

A hearing test is the first step to better hearing!
